Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi Business and Science Accelerator launched an
advisory committee to prepare for the 2024 Global Startup Fair and held their
first meeting at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Offices on Wednesday.

The Fair will be
the first and largest startup festival in the province, and is aimed at
attracting investment from promising startups and helping them expand overseas
to fulfill Gyeonggi province's vision of becoming a “Korean startup paradise”
in its eighth civilian administration.
The province has
selected artificial intelligence (AI), the latest technology trend, as the main
theme of the fair, and plans to promote various programs such as insight
seminars with prominent figures from home and abroad, startup competitions, and
one-on-one meetups with global venture capitalists (VCs).
It is also
discussing collaborations with global startup platforms.
On the same day,
the provincial government launched an advisory committee to prepare for the
fair and appointed Nam Min-woo, CEO of Dasan Networks, a first-generation
venture capitalist who has grown into one of Korea's leading telecommunications
equipment companies, to head the advisory committee.
In addition, Sung
Sang-yeop, Chairman of the Venture Business Association, Yoon Gun-soo, Chairman
of the Korea Venture Capital Association, Yoon Do-sung, Chairman of the Korea
Accelerator Association, Ko Young-ha, Chairman of the Korea Angel Investment Association,
Choi Sung-jin, President of the Korea Startup Forum, Lee Se-young, Chairman of
the Generative AI Startup Association, Kim Ki-byeong, Executive Vice President
of Amazon Web Services, Yoon Hee-young, Executive Vice President of Naver
Cloud, Seo Wan-seok, Executive Vice President of NVIDIA, Choi Jae-bung,
Chairman of GAIA (Gyeonggi-do Association of Industry and Agriculture), and
Jung Song, Dean of KAIST Graduate School of AI, will serve as representatives
from various fields.
“We will
collaborate with overseas startup platforms to make this the best international
event in Asia,” said Gyeonggi-do Deputy Governor Kim Hyun-gon. He further added,
”we will work with all stakeholders to revitalize the Korean startup ecosystem
beyond Gyeonggi Province.”
